FTSE 100 companies get over half a billion in state support

FTSE 100 companies received £583,854,691 in government subsidies, according to research carried out by Corporate Welfare Watch.

The Government’s bank bailout meant that the financial sector received the most subsidies. Away from banking, notable recipients included BAE Systems (£44,782,094), Tesco (£10,396,037) and Unilever (£8,044,494).
