Few people know that the UK Government has a dedicated team, working within the Department for International Trade, to facilitate better communications between government departments, ministers and the largest TNCs.

The remit of the so-called Strategic Relations Team is set out by the DIT as follows:

“Our team is responsible for helping:

  • encourage better coordination across teams in government who work with the UK’s top investors and exporters

  • departments and ministers to develop government’s relationship with businesses

This is important so that government can:

  • establish dialogue with existing and potential customers

  • have a clearer relationship with major investors and exporters

  • help to increase large scale inward investment and high value business overseas for our exporters

  • increase institutional investment”
