Few people know that the UK Government has a dedicated team, working within the Department for International Trade, to facilitate better communications between government departments, ministers and the largest TNCs.
The remit of the so-called Strategic Relations Team is set out by the DIT as follows:
“Our team is responsible for helping:
-
encourage better coordination across teams in government who work with the UK’s top investors and exporters
-
departments and ministers to develop government’s relationship with businesses
This is important so that government can:
-
establish dialogue with existing and potential customers
-
have a clearer relationship with major investors and exporters
-
help to increase large scale inward investment and high value business overseas for our exporters
-
increase institutional investment”
